Well today was another day that seemed to never end at work. The best way to end a long day in the office is with an awesome workout, an even better new recipe to try, and catching up with my best friend who lives all the way in LA. My workout today focused on arms an abs, it was an interval workout of which I did one round with cardio between each interval then two rounds straight through the exercises. I am going to seriously feel it in my core tomorrow!
Dinner tonight was a delicious vegetable soup from Sams Club I keep on hand for lazy nights when I don’t feel like preparing anything. I added a cup and a half of kale leaves and a half of a chicken breast for some protein and extra nutrition, it was perfect after a cold and extra snowy today!
I have found that the best way for me to keep on track with my nutrition is by tapering my meals, largest for breakfast-smallest for dinner. I don’t necessarily mean quantity wise, more so in the density of my meal. I try to get oats or starches in my breakfast so that I am ready to go and full until lunch. I typically have starch with my lunch as well but try to avoid it for dinner.
Honestly, this is because I have a very hard time using portion control when it come to starchy foods..and I know I am not alone with that bad habit!
I decided to mix up my morning routine of an English muffin and a grapefruit and make flourless oatmeal muffins with shredded coconut, craisins, and chocolate chips to have for easy on-the-go breakfasts in the morning. I haven’t had the chance to try them yet, but they smelled heavenly and came out nice and moist in the center!
I will add the recipe tomorrow (after I try them, of course 😉
