The Real Neat Blog Award

Let me just start off by saying how much I appreciate each and every reader and follower of this blog. It means so much to me that I not only get to express myself how I want to, on my own terms, but that it has entered me into such a supportive and caring community I never would have known existed.

So THANK YOU, I can’t wait to see where this takes me 🙂

Now, on to the fun stuff! The sweet Edith at Beauty and A Little Extra thought my blog was kinda neat, and let me tell you – hers is awesome! Here’s how it works;

The rules are:

1) Put the award logo on your blog.

2) Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you.

3) Thank the person who nominated you, linking to their blog.

4) Nominate any number of bloggers you like, linking to their blogs.

5) Let them know you nominated them (by commenting on their blog etc.)

Well, here goes nothing!

List three things you like about yourself?

I’m am going to be completely honest, I had difficulty answering this. Why is it so easy to compliment everything around us, but so hard to compliment ourselves?? Well here goes; 1) I like the way I react to difficult situations. It’s something you have to learn to be good at and picking my battles and remaining calm is my strong suit (especially when in long-term relationships 😉 2) I like that, after years of struggling with depression, I am able to choose happiness every day. I am definitely a glass half-full person! 3) My hair. If you haven’t already seen any of my pictures, I have VERY long hair. Maintenance is easy, it grows quickly, I love my natural color (the first time I dyed it was in 3rd grade and 2 years ago I stopped cold-turkey) and it will literally do whatever I want it to…it’s a good set of locks!

If you could go back to one day of your life, what day would it be and explain why?

I can’t choose just 1, so I’ll share two as there are similarities. I am extremely close with my family and Derrick is like family now. I have cried from happiness twice, and both times were surrounding some of the most important days of my life. 1st) The day my baby brother was born. I was 10 years old and he was the puzzle piece we didn’t know was missing. He’s my bug and makes our family whole. 2nd) The day Derrick told me he loved me. It was the week of valentine’s day in 2011 and I spent several days on edge as he had been hinting at it. I didn’t know if I was ready for it, or him, but when he finally told me my world felt right.

What it your ultimately favorite type of food?

South American! Derrick is Colombian and his mom has introduced me to so many healthful, light, and delicious dishes that are now a staple in our house.

If you were stranded in an island, alone, what would be the first thing you would do?

Holy cow, if you knew me you would know my knee-jerk answer would be to find somewhere to workout! I love outdoor workouts and especially love working out on beaches. But, lets be real, I’de be on the hunt for fresh water and Wilson because how else would I survive alone on an island??

What DIY project are you most proud of?

Well, like many Pinterest-ers, I have had MANY duds. I think my favorite project I have made to date would be an outdoor chevron rug I made in college. It was adorable and white and got completely ruined, but I loved it.

What would be the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?

Pay off mine and Derricks school loans, pay off our car loans, pay off our parents’ home loans, buy a house, have a kick-ass wedding.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?

The ability to express a side of me that not a lot of people knew existed. I tended to be easily influenced and conformed to the actions of those I surrounded myself with. When I got to the end of my college journey I shed a lot of toxic things in my life I had held onto and did a lot of soul searching. I am now living the life I have always wanted and I love getting to share that. You really can’t beat the blogging community either, it is filled with support and love, and why would I want to associate with anything else?

While it was difficult to choose, I am more than excited to nominate some of my favorite bloggers, Semi Sweet Tooth, Sofia Hagger, Single Tracked Mind, ReNew to You, Running with a Girl, and of course, Cookies ‘n’ Kale! I adore these blogs and everything they have to offer. There is nothing like creating an online community of like-minded healthful people. Thank you for all your support in return!

Ready for your questions??

1.)  If you weren’t happy with yesterday, what would you do to change it?

2.)  What is your favorite book?

3.)  What has been your biggest success and your biggest challenge?

4.)  What does your perfect day look like? (April 25th is void… 😉

5.)  What is your favorite memory?

6.)  What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

7.)  If your life were a movie title, what would it be?

8.)  If you could do anything you wanted right now, what would it be?

Of course, I want to thank Edith again from Beauty and a Little Extra for nominating me! Since I am completely make-up illiterate and you won’t find much about my [lack of a] beauty regiment here, check out her amazing blog for tips and reviews!

Happy hump day healthy friends!
